Ho Chi Minh City is planning fireworks displays and hot-air balloon shows in celebration of the Vietnamese National Day on September 2.

The municipal High Command sent its plan for the fireworks shows to the municipal People’s Committee for approval, Lam Ngo Hoang Anh, office chief at the municipal Department of Culture and Sports told a press briefing on Thursday.

Under the plan, a high-altitude fireworks display would take place near the Thu Thiem Tunnel, which connects Thu Duc City with District 1, while a low-altitude pyrotechnic show would be held at Dam Sen Theme Park from 9:00 pm to 9:15 pm on September 2.

The department also suggested that the southern metropolis organize hot-air balloon shows from September 2 and 3 on Nguyen Thien Thanh Street in Thu Duc City under Ho Chi Minh City.

In honor of National Day, the city will also hold a photo exhibition and offer incense and flowers in memory of late President Ho Chi Minh and President Ton Duc Thang.

In addition, residents and visitors can enjoy street light decorations and artistic performances during the celebration on the night of September 2 at Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street in District 1.
